As-to-date, coal dominates the Philippine Energy Mix, and Indonesia’s recent moves to restrict its coal exports showed how vulnerable the Philippines was to supply electricity amid power disruptions.

Thankfully, there are ways to generate energy from natural resources which replenish more quickly than the rate at which they are consumed. The Philippine’s ambitious and bold move towards the transition to renewable energy would guarantee energy security and self-sufficiency, accompanied by reduced reliance on imports.
